My Easy Everyday Makeup Routine for Mature Skin

It’s been a while since I shared my everyday makeup routine! I have changed a few things since sharing my routine last, so I thought it was time for an update. I enjoy this easy routine when doing everyday things, and I want my makeup to look natural and presentable. All products in my current routine work exceptionally well for my mature, nearly 50-year-old skin.

I wanted to share this makeup routine in blog post form so you’d have it in writing! To see it in action, scroll to the bottom.

Easy Everyday Makeup Routine for Mature Skin

My Easy Everyday Makeup Routine

Before I put on any makeup, I do my skincare routine and give my sunscreen time to absorb into my skin. On busy days, I like to use a sunscreen that allows me to save time by multitasking as an all-in-one sunscreen, moisturizer, and primer like the d’Alba Waterfull Waterful Essence Sunscreen.

Foundation

I mix up the foundations I use daily depending on what I have going on each day, but this foundation from Maybelline is one I use frequently. It has a soft matte finish and wears well throughout the day. Often, when I wear matte or long-wearing foundations, I love spraying my already-damp sponge lightly with this white truffle spray serum to ensure they blend seamlessly and quickly and become one with my skin. It also adds a touch of hydration!

Using a damp makeup sponge allows me to achieve medium coverage. I love that my skin looks evened out, but you can still see some skin imperfections, which feels natural for everyday wear.

Under Eye Corrector

To correct the discoloration under my eyes so I look less tired, I lightly dab a corrector like this one from Bobbi Brown, only where I have discoloration under my eyes. I use the warmth of my fingertips, and a thin layer does the trick! Be sure to only apply this where you have discoloration. For me, this is my inner corner, the outer corner where we tend to have redness, and my under-eye hollows.

Concealer

I have been loving this concealer from Sarah Creal! I like to apply the product to the back of my hand and use this concealer brush to blur any blemishes or dark spots on my face. Then I take this brush to conceal my under eyes, following it up by pressing the area gently with my finger to help it fuse with my skin.

If you haven’t tried this concealer yet, it’s a creamy concealer that blends nicely and melts into your skin, beautiful for dry, mature under eyes!

Bronzer

To add dimension to my face, I blend Makeup by Mario Softsculpt Bronzing & Shaping Serum along my hairline and across my forehead where the sun naturally hits. I then bring it down my cheekbone and across my nose. My goal is a subtle, natural look, which this bronzing serum does an excellent job of.

More creamy bronzers I’ve been reaching for:

Blush

I’ve been loving peachy pink and coral blushes for spring and summer. This one in Pomelo Peach has a lovely, natural, soft flush of color. To make any cream, stick, or liquid blush ultra-easy to blend for a natural look, I apply it to the back of my hand and then to my cheeks with a brush like this one.

Eyeshadow

I like to keep my eye makeup pretty simple every day, and this eyeshadow is one of my go-to products. It’s quick and easy to apply, too. I simply dip my finger lightly into the pot and swipe it across my lid, blending it up and out, into my crease to get a seamless look. Keep in mind that these eyeshadows are meant to be sheered out, but they set quickly, so move fast! They are budge-proof and stay in place all day long, even without an eyeshadow primer.

Eye Liner (optional)

Because I have small eyes that are slightly downturned, I prefer to quickly define and uplift them in some way. For quick, easy days, I like to swipe a creamy, blendable, long-wearing eyeliner along the outer half of my eye, directly above my lash line. This eyeliner is perfect for this! I start the line slightly outside of the apex/middle of my eye, and I make sure never to go below the outer corner, which can make your eye look droopy. The line doesn’t need to be perfect, and sometimes I go thicker towards the outer corner. I then smudge the line I made with this brush along the lash line and sometimes extend it outwards for a mini wing to uplift my eyes.

Under Eye Setting

Now that I’ve set my under eyes, it’s time to set the face. This is my most used setting powder. I lightly dab this brush directly into it and lightly press it into my face, dispersing the powder across my face. Next, I take my makeup sponge (no additional powder) and press that powder into my skin. This helps fuse the powder into my skin (vs sitting on top), locks my makeup in place, controls shine, and looks extremely natural.

Pro Tip: Be sure to set your eyes between your brow and lash line to avoid mascara smudges and prevent shadow creasing!

Brows

I have uneven, sparse brows, and I love this brow detailer eyebrow pencil. I aim to make them look as natural as possible and even with one another. Sometimes, I use a brow pen if I have more time. But I don’t have a consistent eyebrow routine, and most days, I use this pencil to create hair-like strokes to fill in my brows and make them look as even as possible!

Lash Curler

Before I apply mascara, I curl my lashes with this eyelash curler. I start at the base and pump the lash curler two or three times outward toward the edge of my lashes. I then give them one more curl at the base and tip the curler inward just a bit.

Mascara

Mascara is another product that I switch up regularly. One I’ve been rotating lately is this mascara in brown. It gives my lashes a fluffy, natural look that I’ve been loving.

My eyelashes tend to get clumped together from any mascara I use, so I always comb through them with my trusty wire eyelash comb I’ve used for years. I do this step once my mascara is 70-80% dry, so I don’t rip out any lashes.

Lip Definition

I almost always apply a lip liner similar to my natural lip color to give my lips more definition and help them look fuller. I’ve been loving this new duo lip liner from Charlotte Tilbury for this! It looks and feels nice enough on its own, but also layers really well under lip products.

Lip Products

This is one of my favorite gloss balm hybrids! It’s so easy to apply, is hydrating, comfortable on the lips, and so flattering. It also layers so well over the Charlotte Tilbury lip liner.

Blush Layering

For longevity purposes, I sometimes add a bit more blush once I’ve finished my makeup. This is an option, but if you’re going to be on the go, a tiny bit more can give you a bit more glow and last much longer. On this day, I used a small amount of one of my favorite blushes from Haus Labs.

Glow

Also optional, but on the days I want to add something extra to my eyes, I use the white shade from this Dior palette in my inner corner and on my brow bone. This gives a subtle, brightening effect with a natural, dewy radiance. I don’t do this every day, but I always love the impact when I do it.
