Not every trending product lives up to the excitement surrounding it. But every once in a while, I come across products that truly earn a permanent spot in my makeup routine. These are products I continue reaching for long after the initial buzz wears off.

My Skin Type

Before I jump into the products, I always think it helps to share some context about my skin so you have a better idea of how these products performed for me and whether they might work well for your skin too.

I’m 51 years old and have sensitive skin with rosacea. My skin type is primarily oily to combination. I tend to be more normal around the perimeter of my face, although those areas can occasionally lean dry depending on the time of year.

This foundation quickly became one of the complexion products I reach for and recommend most often. It applies incredibly quickly and blends beautifully into my skin while providing buildable medium to medium-full coverage. The formula builds from light-medium to medium-full coverage while creating one of the prettiest skin-like finishes I’ve seen. It blends quickly, looks incredibly natural, and gives my skin a healthy radiance without ever looking heavy.

If your skin leans dry or you love a natural luminous complexion, I think you’ll really enjoy this foundation. If your skin is more combination, like mine, I’d recommend pairing it with a mattifying primer. No matter what, I think you’ll appreciate just how beautiful the finish is.

Essence Mono Multi-Finish Eyeshadow

This affordable eyeshadow may be one of the biggest surprises I’ve tried recently. If I didn’t know this came from Essence, I honestly would have guessed it was a much more expensive product.

The texture is creamy, smooth, and incredibly easy to work with. Most days, I simply swipe it onto my lids with my finger and blend the edges for a quick, polished eye look. It gives such a flattering pearl finish that works beautifully for both everyday makeup and special occasions.

Considering the price point, I think this is one of the best affordable makeup products I’ve tried in quite some time!

Gucci Glow Dewy Powder Blush

Sometimes the best beauty purchases happen because someone else is wearing the product so beautifully that you can’t stop thinking about it. That’s exactly what happened with this blush in the shade Bright Ruby.

I noticed one of my daughter’s friends wearing it on two different occasions, and each time her skin looked fresh, healthy, and naturally flushed. After finally deciding to purchase it myself, I completely understood the hype. The first day I wore it, I received multiple compliments on my makeup!

The texture is silky and lightweight, and the red shade creates one of the most natural-looking flushes I’ve found. It blends effortlessly and gives my cheeks a healthy, fresh appearance that looks incredibly flattering on my skin.

Dior Rosy Glow Blush Stick

This blush stick has become one of my favorite cream blush formulas! I purchased the Cherry shade because I wanted a beautiful red blush stick for summer, and it has quickly become one of the easiest products to reach for. I place one dot on each cheek and blend it out. Done!

The formula is creamy without feeling sticky and blends beautifully whether I apply it to bare skin, over foundation, or even on top of powder. Every application looks smooth, even, and natural.

What I love most about this blush stick is the finish. It creates that lit-from-within natural radiant flush without any visible shimmer, leaving my cheeks looking healthy, fresh, and naturally flushed.
