10 Skincare Products That Surprised Me
Between innovative formulas, advanced ingredients, and products that make your everyday routine easier skincare just keeps getting better and better. There have been quite a few recent finds that have impressed me.
Some of these are brand-new launches, while others are simply new to me. From sunscreens that work beautifully on sensitive skin to an anti-aging serum I finally understand the hype around, these are 10 skincare products that surprised me and are worth knowing about.

10 Skincare Products That Surprised Me
Medicube No Cast, Just Glow SPF 50 Sunscreen
Finding a facial sunscreen that works well for my sensitive skin and rosacea isn’t always easy, but this sunscreen has been a great recent find. As the name suggests, it blends beautifully without leaving a white cast and gives my skin a healthy glow without looking oily. The formula is lightweight and hydrating, and it wears comfortably alone and underneath makeup.
This sunscreen also contains skincare ingredients like collagen peptides, cica, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide, so you’re getting more than sun protection from your morning SPF.
Timebeam Beauty Sunbeam SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen
This mineral sunscreen comes in slim, travel-friendly packaging, making it incredibly easy to take with you. It gives my skin a dewy glow without feeling greasy, blends out easily, and doesn’t pill underneath makeup. The formula also contains green tea, niacinamide, and astaxanthin, a potent antioxidant that can help protect skin from environmental stressors.
I love that I’m getting SPF 50 protection in a formula that feels lightweight, hydrating, and comfortable on my skin.
Timebeam Beauty Ice Baby Cryo Facial Roller
This facial roller is one of the more innovative yet simple facial tools I’ve tried recently. It combines cryotherapy with lymphatic massage in a lightweight, travel-friendly tool. It includes a larger roller for areas like the jaw, cheeks, forehead, and neck, plus a smaller roller on the opposite end that’s perfect for around the eyes. It feels cooling as you use it, and you don’t even have to chill it unless you want it extra cold.
I haven’t seen anything quite like this before, and I’ve really enjoyed using it.
Clarins Double Serum
I had heard people rave about this serum for years, but I always assumed it wouldn’t work for my combination, sensitive skin. I expected it to feel heavy or oily and thought it was probably better suited for very dry, mature skin.
The first thing that surprised me was how balanced the formula feels. It absorbs beautifully, hydrates my skin, and gives it a healthy glow without any greasiness. The two-phase formula combines water-soluble and oil-soluble ingredients and includes ingredients designed to hydrate, soothe, smooth, firm, and support the skin barrier.
I finally understand why this serum has had such a devoted following for so long. It exceeded my expectations and gave me much more than I thought it would.
Dieux Firm Revival Hydro Retinal Firming Serum
I’ve had great luck with several Dieux products and am a huge retinal lover. So I was excited to see the brand launch a retinal serum. This retinal firming serum contains 0.05% retinal, making it approachable for someone new to retinoids while still suitable for more experienced users. The lightweight texture absorbs easily and layers nicely with skincare.
It uses a controlled-release delivery system designed to maximize efficacy while minimizing sensitivity, along with ingredients that help hydrate and keep skin comfortable. If you’ve been thinking about trying a retinoid for the first time or transitioning from retinol to the stronger, gentler retinal, this is an option worth considering.
NIRA Pro 3 Laser
I have a lot of experience using the NIRA Pro 2 Laser, so I was particularly interested to see what changed with the new Pro 3. One of my favorite upgrades is surprisingly simple: you can finally adjust the sound. The original placement indicator was loud enough that I couldn’t comfortably use the device if my husband was already asleep. The Pro 3 now offers silent and haptic modes, adjustable volume, and different sounds through the app.
It also has nine power levels instead of five, a longer-lasting battery, and 50% faster charging. Nira Lasers use nonfractional, nonablative laser technology like dermatologists use to stimulate natural collagen production and target concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, and uneven skin tone.

Barefaced Toning Pads 2
Even with sensitive skin, I decided to try these stronger toning pads instead of the brand’s original version. Since these contain a higher concentration of acids, I wasn’t entirely sure how my skin would respond, but I was pleasantly surprised with them!
They exfoliate and help smooth texture, brighten, refine, and unclog pores without leaving my skin feeling dry, tight, or sensitized. I like keeping exfoliating pads on hand and alternating them with my retinoid nights, and these have fit beautifully into that routine.
DRMTLGY Facial Rx Brightening Eye Masks
Eye masks aren’t all created equal, and I’ve really been enjoying these eye masks. The biodegradable hydrogel patches are nicely sized, stay in place without constantly sliding down my face, and come with a spatula that makes them easier to remove from the container.
More importantly, the formula includes caffeine for depuffing, peptides, niacinamide, licorice root, and a hyaluronic acid complex to hydrate and smooth the under-eye area. In about 10 minutes, they give you much more than just a cooling moment.
Nakery Beauty Skin Recovery Total Body Magic Spray
Where has this spray been hiding!? I certainly wish I discovered it sooner! It’s a multi-use body spray with 10% magnesium, valerian root, arnica, aromatherapy, and other ingredients designed to help calm and relax areas of tension or stiffness. The ultra-fine mist doesn’t leave behind a greasy residue. I’ve used it on areas where I carry tension and have even used it as a sleep spray. I absolutely love it!
Summer Fridays Body Mists + Body Butter Balms
Summer Fridays recently launched body fragrance mists and body butter balms in three scents, and the entire collection feels like such a natural extension of the brand.
The body butters leave my skin hydrated without feeling greasy or heavy, while the fragrances are noticeable without being overpowering. Pink Guava is bright, juicy, and fruity; Pistachio Milk is creamy and cozy; and Vanilla is light, sweet, and musky without being overly sweet.
I’ve been enjoying all three, especially for warmer weather when I tend to gravitate toward lighter fragrances. It’s a fun launch that feels perfectly suited to Summer Fridays.
What I love about this group of products is that they surprised me for completely different reasons. Some proved me wrong about what I thought a formula would feel like, while others introduced a new approach to products I already use regularly.
Whether you’re looking for a new daily SPF, an active to add to your nighttime routine, or simply a skincare find that makes your routine a little more enjoyable, these are products that stood out to me lately. I think you’ll love them too!
