An Honest Review of Merit’s The Uniform
Whether you’re new to the blog or watch my YouTube channel, you know how much I love trying new beauty products and sharing my honest reviews with you, so you don’t waste your money. I recently tested Merit’s latest launch,The Uniform. This tinted mineral sunscreen has taken social media by storm. After thoroughly testing it, I’m sharing my honest thoughts on how it performs.

What is Merit The Uniform?
The Uniform is Merit’s tinted mineral sunscreen with a hint of coverage. It delivers broad-spectrum SPF 45 with 100% mineral zinc oxide, comprised of ultra-fine zinc and proprietary pigment dispersion technology to help eliminate any white cast.
It’s oil and silicone-free, non-comedogenic, lightweight, and designed for easy, no-fuss application.
My Skin Type
I’m 50 years old and have sensitive skin with rosacea. My skin type is oily/combination, which is normal around the perimeter (and can be dry on occasion). I get shine/oil breakthrough in the center of my face.
What Merit Claims
- Lightweight, buildable mineral sunscreen with a soft, velvety finish
- Blends effortlessly into your skin with no white cast
- Blurs the look of skin
My Experience with Merit The Uniform
I’ve been wearing The Uniform for a couple of months now, here in New Orleans, where it’s extremely hot and humid right now.
Application & Blendability
An important note: Applying it as a skin tint, the way many do, will not give you the full SPF 45 sun protection it claims to give.
If you want full sun protection, you should be applying 1/4 teaspoon of The Uniform to your face and neck to get proper coverage. To see how many pumps it took to fill ¼ teaspoon, I pumped the product into a 1/4 sized teaspoon. It took 7 full pumps to fill the teaspoon. This might seem like a lot, but this is how much you need to apply if you intend to use it for sun protection.
If using as an SPF, the Uniform should be applied as the final step in your skincare routine. It can be worn alone or under makeup. To make sunscreen application easier, I always massage in roughly half the amount of product fully and then massage in the other half. I find sunscreens absorb more easily and quicker that way.
Coverage & Finish
Immediately after applying the Uniform, the finish is very dewy with a little tackiness. I always let this settle into my skin for around 10 to 15 minutes before applying my makeup, as you should with any sunscreen. Once settled, I still experience a dewy, radiant finish with slight tackiness, but less than when first applied.
Due to the dewiness of this SPF, I blot the surface of my skin prior to applying my makeup.
It gives a sheer veil of coverage over my redness and imperfections. It’s great for lighter or no-makeup days, so if that’s something you’re looking for, you’ll enjoy this product!
How It Layers Under Makeup
When applying my makeup over The Uniform, I do not experience any peeling issues with my corrector, concealer, bronzer, or blush. After setting my makeup, the shine from The Uniform is slightly reduced, but I still have a naturally radiant finish.
How The Uniform Wears
Even with its hydrating formula and the heat and humidity in New Orleans, this SPF wears well both alone and under makeup. I don’t get shine or oil breakthrough, nor does my face feel oily!
How I Use It
I have often been using it as a combination moisturizer, SPF, and skin tint all-in-one, multitasking product as the last step of my skincare, and have been enjoying it.
I also enjoy using less of it, applied as a skin tint over my regular skincare + sunscreen. I’m really surprised at how a product with such a dewy finish lasts, absorbs my setting powder, and doesn’t make me oily or greasy looking during the day.
Where to Buy The Uniform
If you’re looking to add The Uniform to your routine, you can purchase it at Sephora and directly on Merit’s website.
Do Merit’s Claims Hold Up?
Yes! The Uniform blends in effortlessly, with no white cast, and helps to smooth and blur your skin. It’s lightweight, non-greasy throughout the day, and keeps your makeup looking fresh all day long. It’s also versatile in that it can be worn alone or under makeup.

Tinted mineral sunscreens can be tricky because the finish, coverage, and shade match matter just as much as the sun protection. I’d use vemapostar to see how The Uniform performs throughout the day and whether it works well under makeup. I like that the review actually explains how much product was used for the claimed SPF instead of treating it like a regular skin tint. The detail about letting it settle for 10–15 minutes is useful too, especially with a dewy formula that might look quite different once it has had time to set. The sheer coverage sounds like it could work well for days when you don’t want a full makeup base, and I was browsing leonbet app at the same time while looking through the review.

One of the product’s main strengths is its texture. In testing for Who What Wear, the formula was described as smooth, velvety and non-greasy, with a soft-matte finish rather than a strongly dewy appearance. The reviewer also found that it blended evenly and provided enough coverage to replace foundation for everyday wear https://spinbara-deutschlands.de/

Other reviews were similarly positive about the natural finish and lightweight feel. Marie Claire noted that The Uniform helped even out redness and blur pores, while Stylist praised its complexion-enhancing effect and comfortable application. Trying a new beauty product is always a little exciting, but an honest review becomes even more useful when a product has already attracted so much attention online. **Merit’s The Uniform**, a tinted mineral sunscreen, has generated plenty of conversation on social media, making a closer look at its real-world performance especially interesting.
One of the biggest advantages of a tinted mineral sunscreen is the combination of **sun protection and complexion enhancement**. Instead of applying sunscreen and foundation as two completely separate steps, a tinted formula can provide a more streamlined routine while helping to even out the appearance of the skin.
The finish is another important consideration. Some tinted sunscreens can feel heavy or overly noticeable, while others are designed to create a more natural, skin-like appearance. This is where personal testing becomes valuable, because product descriptions cannot always communicate how a formula actually feels after several hours of wear.
Shade selection also matters. Since a tinted product is intended to blend with the complexion, finding a suitable shade can make a significant difference in the final result. A good match should look natural rather than sitting visibly on top of the skin.
Another point worth considering is how the product fits into a daily routine. The best beauty products are often those that are **simple to use consistently**. If a sunscreen can combine skincare, complexion coverage and a lightweight feel, it may appeal to people who prefer a minimal morning routine.
At the same time, social media popularity should not be confused with universal suitability. Skin types, preferences and expectations vary widely. A product that looks fantastic on one person may feel completely different on another, which is why independent reviews and realistic expectations remain important.
It is also useful to remember that a tinted cosmetic product should be used according to its intended directions, and adequate sunscreen application remains important even when a product provides some complexion coverage.

Ultimately, **The Uniform** is an interesting example of how modern beauty products are combining multiple steps into one. Its popularity makes sense, but the real test is whether the formula delivers a comfortable, natural-looking result that people genuinely enjoy using every day.

This is exactly the kind of review I appreciate—honest, detailed, and based on real-life wear instead of first impressions. I also love the reminder that tinted SPF only provides full protection when you apply the recommended amount. That’s something a lot of people overlook!

This was actually a super useful breakdown of The Uniform — especially the part about how many pumps it really takes to reach proper SPF coverage. Most people completely underestimate that and end up basically wearing a “nice-tinted moisturizer” instead of real sun protection.
What stood out to me is how it behaves like a hybrid product: skincare + SPF + light makeup in one. That kind of “all-in-one glow” sounds perfect for days when you don’t want a full face routine, just something quick that still looks polished. The fact that it holds up in heat and humidity without turning into an oil slick is honestly the real test.
I also appreciate the honesty about the finish staying slightly dewy even after settling — that’s something brands usually gloss over, but in real life it makes a big difference depending on your skin type and whether you like a natural glow or a more matte look.
If anything, this review makes me think the product is less about replacing sunscreen entirely and more about upgrading your routine when you want convenience without sacrificing skin comfort.
Anyway, for anyone who enjoys exploring beauty, skincare experiments, or just browsing interesting lifestyle finds, there are always new corners of the internet to fall into — for example: https://play-jonnys.com/
Nice breakdown of the product — this is actually the kind of review that saves people a lot of “why did I buy this?” moments later
The SPF + tinted base combo sounds like a solid idea on paper, but your point about the real amount needed for proper protection is the one most people ignore. 7 pumps vs. “a light cosmetic layer” is a big gap, and that’s usually where marketing and real-life use don’t fully match.
Also interesting that it holds up in heat and humidity without turning into an oil slick — that’s usually the real test for any “glowy finish” product. If it can survive New Orleans weather, it can probably survive most places.
Anyway, switching gears a bit — if you’re just browsing beauty reviews and want something more on the entertainment side for a break, there’s also https://play-jonnys.com/ to check out.
Overall though, this sounds like one of those hybrid products that works best when you know exactly how you’re going to use it, not just what the label promises.
Great review! I appreciate how detailed and practical your testing process was, especially explaining the amount needed to achieve the advertised SPF protection. It’s refreshing to see an honest assessment that covers both the positives and the real-world application experience. Your insights on how it performs in heat and humidity were particularly helpful, and it sounds like The Uniform could be a great option for anyone looking for a lightweight, everyday product with a natural finish. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thorough review! The Uniform definitely delivers if you love radiant, dewy finishes and want to cut your morning routine down to under five minutes. It feels comfortable on the skin all day without caking, even if it might not satisfy someone looking for ultra-matte, full-coverage results.
