Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer Review

I’ve tested hundreds of concealers over the years. While many promise long-wearing and flawless coverage, few genuinely deliver on both. One of the most recent concealers I’ve tested is the new Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place 24-Hour concealer, which replaces the beloved Double Wear Stay-in-Place Flawless Wear Concealer

In this blog post, I’m sharing my honest thoughts on the new Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place 24-Hour concealer. From texture and application, to how it wears throughout the day on my dry, mature under eyes. If you’re considering this concealer, here’s what you need to know.

About My Skin

I am turning 50 this year. I have dry under-eyes with dryness, texture, hollows, and dark circles. I follow the routine I shared in THIS video to help me achieve smooth, bright, youthful under eyes.

The Concealer

There are 30 shades in the new Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place 24-Hour Concealer. I wear shade 2.5C (the same shade I wear in Estee Lauder Futurist Concealer). It is a multi-use concealer that you can conceal, contour, or highlight with. It has a soft-focus matte finish and melts into your skin upon application.

For this concealer, Estée Lauder uses what they call Invisflex Technology. These flexible polymers move with your skin throughout the day, and micro silica spheres help absorb sebum to provide oil control (immediately and up to 24 hours). The claims are almost the same across the board compared to the original Flawless Wear concealer, except for the flexible polymers or the soft focus blur finish.

Because it’s important to me to see if concealers I’m testing are compatible with products I normally wear, I tested it with my favorite under eye corrector (I wear shade bisque) and without. Since I have discoloration, I usually apply a corrector before my concealer.

The Wand

They designed the wand to be a 3D sculpting wand, to precisely use it how you need it, no matter where or how you’re applying it – to conceal, contour, or highlight.

How to Apply

I tested this concealer by applying it with my finger and a brush.

Applying with my finger:

When applying this concealer with my finger, I apply the product directly to my under eye with the wand. The flat edge of the applicator of this concealer doesn’t pick up a ton of product, but as someone with mature, dry under eyes, I don’t like to use a lot of product under my eyes since it tends to look too textured and cakey.

Applying the product directly with the wand and blending it out with my finger gives me the best control of the product and results in medium to nearly full coverage.

Applying with a brush:

When applying this concealer with a brush, I swipe some of the concealer to the back of my hand and work my LC01 brush from Rephr into the product before blending under my eyes. I get medium-full coverage with this method.

When applying a self-setting or slightly matte concealer with a brush, the end result can sometimes look slightly dry or textured. To remedy that, I lightly tap my undereye with either my sponge or my finger to fully smooth it and fuse the product with my skin. It then looks smoother and more natural.

Because this concealer sets quickly, I advise applying and blending one eye at a time and not letting it sit under your eye before blending it out.

Coverage

This product claims to provide medium to full coverage. In order to get medium to full coverage, I need to layer it over a corrector. When testing this concealer, I tested it alongside this corrector and was able to get medium to medium full coverage.

Whether I wear this concealer over a corrector or not, it lasts well all day under my eyes. It also lasts nicely when used to conceal spots on my face.

Creasing

If you experience under-eye creasing with your concealer, it will likely also happen with this concealer. And because this concealer is so self-setting I find the creases are set in and really difficult to press out without impacting the coverage and smoothness of my makeup. So, if you’re crease-prone like me, I recommend setting your under-eye immediately after application.

The Results

I enjoy the soft matte finish and the weightless feel of this concealer. It doesn’t settle or crease throughout the day when I lightly set it with translucent powder, and it flexes with my skin.

Sometimes soft matte or matte concealers leave my under-eyes looking or feeling dry and tight, but I don’t experience that with this one – as long as I prep my under-eyes well. You can see how I do that in THIS video.

Towards the end of a long day, I can get a little crinkly under my eyes. But overall, I think this is a nice soft matte concealer.
