Beauty Treatments You Can Do at Home
There’s something incredibly satisfying about treating yourself to a spa day. And it’s even better when you can do it without ever leaving your house. Whether you’re looking to refresh your skin, strengthen your hair, or indulge in some self-care, you can do plenty of effective beauty treatments at home with professional-level results. Here are some of my favorites that are simple, effective, and totally worth the time.

Beauty Treatments You Can Do at Home
At-Home Facial
A spa facial is a nice way to relax and unwind, but it’s also a luxury! With the right products, you can recreate the experience at home.
Step 1: Use a cleansing balm like this one from Farmacy to effectively remove makeup and deeply cleanse your pores. Massage it directly onto dry skin for 30 to 60 seconds to remove the day’s impurities. Once you’ve rinsed the cleansing balm off, use your regular cleanser (two of my go-to cleansers are Tatcha The Rice Wash and Indie Lee Brightening) to cleanse thoroughly without stripping your skin.
Step 2: Now that your face is clean, it’s time to steam! This will give you the ultimate spa day at home experience. A facial steamer will help unclog your pores and allow your serums and moisturizers to work better.
Step 3: To exfoliate your skin post-steam, a leave-on treatment like Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment is fantastic. It has a 2.5% pH-balanced AHA complex that helps exfoliate the skin without irritation. It’s a gentle but powerful mask-type treatment.
Step 4: Utilizing moisturizers after your exfoliant will lock in moisture and hydrate your skin. Drunk Elephant’s Protini Polypeptide Firming Moisturizer has been a favorite of mine for years. It’s creamy, lightweight, and nourishing, making me feel like I’m at a spa every time I apply it.
At-Home Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning removes peach fuzz and exfoliates dead skin, creating a smooth canvas for makeup and skincare. It also helps your skincare and treatments penetrate more deeply so they can be more effective.
You don’t need anything expensive to do this, and you can easily do it at home with a small facial razor. I try to do it weekly but sometimes miss a week here and there.
How to use a facial razor at home:
- Start with clean, dry skin.
- Hold the razor at a 45-degree angle and gently glide it across sections of your face. Pro tip: I slide my finger across my face from different angles to ensure it feels smooth. If it doesn’t, I glide from a different angle to ensure all hair is removed.
- Swipe with a soothing, hydrating toner or lightly rinse to remove loose peach fuzz.
- Follow up with your regular hydrating skincare (minus treatments since you just completed your exfoliating step). Easy peasy!
Lip Treatment for Soft, Plump Lips
If you have chapped or dry lips, using a lip treatment or lip mask every single night before bed can make a huge difference. Overnight lip masks lock in moisture while you sleep, so you wake up with more hydrated, plump, supple lips.
Some of my favorites:
To take that a step further, exfoliating your lips 1-3x a week before applying your lip treatment/lip mask can make an even bigger difference in keeping your lips from being so dry and chapped. Removing the dead skin from your lips allows the hydration from the lip treatment to penetrate more deeply.
Here are some nice lip scrubs to try:
Body Exfoliation & Glow Treatment
For silky-smooth skin, try dry brushing before you shower to help boost circulation and remove dead skin. Once you’re in the shower, you can use a sugar or salt scrub like these to help soften any rough patches.
After your shower, apply a body butter to help lock in moisture and keep your skin hydrated! This body butter from Josie Maran is a favorite of mine. It has a warm but sweet scent with gourmand notes of vanilla bean and juniper berries. It’s also formulated with argan oil, avocado oil, and shea butter so your skin stays moisturized, smooth, soft, and supple!
Taking time for yourself and indulging in beauty treatments at home can be just as effective—and relaxing—as a trip to the spa. Plus, it’s a great way to unwind and practice self-care on your own schedule.
