The Ultimate Under Eye Setting Hack for Dry Under Eyes
If you have dry or mature eye under eyes, or fine lines and texture, it can be really difficult to set your under eyes with powder. It often exaggerates dryness and texture and makes you look older than you are. Something no one wants!
As someone with dry under eyes, I’m always trying new setting methods to see what works. Thankfully, I came across this quick method that somehow works for my mature, almost 50-year-old skin to keep my under eyes smooth, bright and crease-free all day! If you regularly watch my YouTube Channel I’ve shown this method in recent videos, but today I’m breaking it down for you, step by step. You can see the demo in the video below.

THE ULTIMATE UNDER-EYE SETTING HACK FOR DRY UNDER EYES
I won’t tell you that you need to run out and buy specific products, but there are two specific products and colors that I used for this hack. They are Kosas Cloud Set powder in the shade Airy and Huda Beauty Easy Bake Setting powder in Cupcake. While I’ve tried this hack with other powders, it just didn’t quite work the same. However, after reading success stories in my video comment section, I think I’ve determined the key is using a baked powder first, followed by a finely milled brightening power. Aside from that, I don’t know why this combination works so well, but it just does…without looking dry or powdery.
Step 1: The Initial Set
After you’ve applied your concealer (and color corrector if you use it), dip a small domed soft brush (I use THIS one) into a small amount of Kosas Cloud Set and dust it along your under-eye area using a very light hand to avoid disrupting your concealer. If you need to sweep across the area a few times, that’s OK! Be sure to work from the inner corner all the way out to your crow’s feet area.
On my light/medium skin tone, the shade Airy appears translucent, but the original creator where I saw this method has deeper skin than I do, and it also works for her.
Next, lightly dip the corner of a triangular puff or a dry (or barely damp) sponge into a tiny amount of the powder. Gently press the powder into your crease-prone areas. For me, this is directly under my lash line and my crow’s feet. This will give you extra crease-proof “insurance” on those areas. And it looks natural since it’s being pressed and fused into your skin and not sitting on top of it as it would if we only dusted it on with the brush. Continue to lightly press the sponge/puff across your entire under eye area to fuse the remaining powder into your skin.
You can stop there if you like a naturally set under eye. Personally, I find Kosas Cloud Set doesn’t smooth and brighten enough for me on it’s own. I also crease with it later in the day, even with the pressing method. So now it’s time to amp it up.
Step 2: Smooth and Brighten
I’ve never been able to wear Huda Beauty Easy Bake under my eyes because it makes my dry under eyes look even more dry. But it turns out that layering these two products makes for the perfect duo! When layered over Kosas, Huda locks things in place further, smooths, and brightens.
For this step, I basically repeat what I did with the Kosas powder. I dust a small amount of powder under my eyes using the same fluffy domed brush from the inner corner to my crow’s feet. Next, I take my damp or dry sponge or triangular puff, dip it into a small amount of powder, and press it into my under eyes just like I did in step 1.
Since I pre-set with Kosas, I sometimes skip using the brush and simply press it in with a sponge or puff and still get great results!
No matter what, be conservative with the amount of powder you use so you don’t end up with dry or powdery looking under eyes.
This setting hack makes my under eyes look smoother and brighter, and once the rest of my face is set, it all comes together and looks so natural! This is a method I use when I have long filming days or for special occasions. It looks polished, and my under eyes are smooth, bright, and crease-free without looking overdone, dry, cakey, or powdery.
