My Most Loved & Hated Products in August
I’m constantly trying new makeup and skincare products and picking up new things for our home. And I enjoy sharing these with you so you know which items are winners and which aren’t!
Last month, I tried some great products that worked incredibly well for me, and I’m excited to share them with you! As always, I’m keeping things honest and also sharing the makeup products and tools that didn’t work for me.

My Most Loved Products in August
Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks (new formulation)
So many of my long-time favorite products have been reformulated and, thus, have fallen off my “loves” list. Thankfully, these eyeshadow sticks did not disappoint. I adored the original formula, so saying I love this new formula is kind of a big deal!
Like the original formula, the new Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks are great for dry, mature lids. They remain easy to blend with your finger or brush and give you time to work with them before they set down. And once they set, they don’t look dry or wrinkled. If you live in a hot, humid climate like I do or are going on vacation soon, these eyeshadow sticks are must-haves!
Laura Mercier Ultra-Blur Talc-Free Translucent Pressed Setting Powder
This very finely milled pressed translucent powder can be used as a setting or blotting powder. I like to carry this with me when I’m on the go or touch up with it when I’m filming and get shiny. It has little to no coverage, so it doesn’t change the appearance of my makeup during the day or get cakey, and it gives a diffusing, natural, soft matte finish. It takes down shine without looking like powder.
Laura Mercier Caviar Perfecting Lip Liner
This was a slow burner product for me; I liked it but didn’t love it at first. When I initially used it, it seemed like a typical lip pencil. But after a few days of wearing it layered with other lip products, I wore it by itself and was really impressed. It felt non-drying and comfortable and didn’t make me feel like I needed to apply another product over it. These liners are formulated to be budge-proof and long-lasting, which I find to be true. I’ve been wearing Rosewood quite a bit!
Fenty Gloss Balm Stix
This is essentially the insanely popular Fenty Gloss Balm in a stick formula. It’s a creamy, lipstick-gloss-balm hybrid that glides on, leaving behind a high-gloss shine and beautiful pigment. Plus, it’s hydrating, thanks to vitamin E, squalane, and shae butter. I’m pretty picky about my hybrid lip products, and this one is a winner!
Patrick Ta Blush Duo
I’ve wanted to share this blush with you for so long, but was out of stock everywhere for the longest time! It’s finally back, and I couldn’t be happier. This blush duo in Not Too Much is perfect if you want something that goes with anything and everything. Plus, you can use cream, powder, or both! I’d describe this shade as a soft, rosy-nude taupe. The cream and powder blushes have incredible formulas that are so easy to work with and highly buildable.
Fenty Cheeks Suede Blush
This blush comes in six matte shades. I love how easily you can build the color without depositing too much color immediately. If you’re looking for an easy, blurred airbrush finish with your blush, this blush gives precisely that. I have the shade Sundress Szn, which is a flattering peachy pink.
Haus Labs Color Fuse Blush
This is another fabulous blush I couldn’t get enough of last month. It’s also extremely easy to apply and blend without overloading your cheeks with too much color right away. It also has incredible wear even in hot, humid climates. All Haus Labs products, including this blush, have beneficial skincare ingredients that help reduce redness, hydrate, and do beautiful things for your skin. I have the shade Pomelo Peach, a soft coral.
Clinique Moisture Surge Lip Hydro-Plump Treatment
This is such a fantastic lip treatment! It has no scent or taste. And even though it’s a plumping treatment, it doesn’t sting, tingle, or burn like many lip plumpers. Instead, it seems to plump by hydrating and smoothing your lip lines. It almost feels too basic to be doing anything beneficial. But it’s loaded with shae butter, ceramides, and lipids, so it comforts, soothes, and hydrates your lips beautifully. It’s not too sticky or too runny. The consistency is just right. You’re getting more than just Vaseline or Aquaphor from this pink tube of goodness!
Timeless Single-Use Serum Pouches
Timeless has such effective, beneficial serums. So I was excited to see that they now have single-use pouches at an affordable price. Each box comes with 28 pouches. I found there is more than enough product in each pouch for your face, neck, chest, and the back of my hands. These are perfect for travel or for ensuring vitamin c stays air-tight and doesn’t expire too quickly. I’m excited about these game-changers!
Kendra Scott Enamel Collection
Kendra Scott added some new pieces to their enamel collection. These enamel hoop earrings are so precious and look pretty paired with this enamel necklace. I got both in purple for my daughter Brooke. It looks like all colors are back in stock now too! I also got her these huggie earrings in green (her main sorority color) as a back to school gift. Kendra Scott recently launched a Greek Collection featuring over 35 organizations! Such a fun gift for college girls in a sorority!!
Dean Davidson Pieces
I will never say no to a simple but elevated earring and this pair is a new favorite! They’re a little more elevated than a simple hoop and go with anything and everything. I’ve also been wearing this ring and these mini drop earrings constantly. All three of these pieces are part of the new Manhattan collection. Dean Davidson also just launched their Force Cabochon collection and I added this necklace and matching statement ring to my collection and love them both so much!

Pasta Bowls
We recently upgraded our dinnerware, and I finally added pasta bowls. Let me tell you: they live up to the hype! We’ve been using ours constantly for pasta, salads, and heating up leftovers. They’re the perfect size for everything, and the lip height keeps everything contained.
My Most Hated Products in August
Benefit Microfilling Eyebrow Pen
Benefit makes one of my favorite eyebrow pencils, so I was excited to try this new pen. But it completely missed the mark for me. It’s a triple brow pen designed to quickly and easily mimic natural hairs. I’ve tried these types of eyebrow pens, and they usually don’t have enough pigment. But this one was the complete opposite. It was way too pigmented, no matter how lightly I applied it. It basically looked like I drew my brows in with a marker. No, thank you!
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Mascara
With its very closely packed bristles, this mascara caused a lot of extra product to come out of the tube with the brush. This, in turn, caused me to spend quite a while scraping excess mascara off before I could apply it. It’s also heavily scented with that signature Physican’s Formula butter scent, which I find unnecessary in a mascara. However, it holds my eyelash curl pretty well and gives natural-looking lashes.
Pacifica Surf Lash Water Resistant Mascara
This mascara has a dry, clumpy formula, and the twisty, hourglass wand didn’t work well for my lashes. The widest part smears mascara onto my browbone, making everything a big mess. This mascara simply didn’t do it for me.
Revlon The Designer Collection Lash Curler
I love many Revlon products, so when I was sent this lash curler, I figured I’d like it too. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Instead of curling my lashes, it crimped them. But the major thing for me was that it felt like it was pulling my lashes up and out! I honestly thought I would be left with fewer lashes after using this! After “”curling”” my lashes with this, I was left with a crimp, not a curl, and it was not a pleasant lash-curling experience.
