5 Tips to Take Your Summer Makeup Into Fall

With the fall season right around the corner, it’s just about time to retire the sun-kissed summer glow and instead capture an earthy-toned, cozy fall look. Just like you switch out your wardrobe to adapt to cooler temperatures, your makeup choices can also benefit from a little refresh. If you’re not sure how to do that, don’t panic! I’ve got you covered with 5 tips to refresh your summer makeup into a fall makeup routine. In this post, we’ll explore some simple yet effective ways to transition from summer to fall makeup that radiates the season’s cooler temperatures and a cozy feeling.

Tip 1: Hydrating Skin Care

As the leaves begin to change and the air becomes cooler and drier, moisturizing your skin becomes even more crucial. Transitioning from summer humidity to autumn conditions can lead to dryness, irritation, and even flakiness if proper skin care isn’t maintained. So my first tip to refresh your summer makeup for fall is a good, thick, and hydrating face moisturizer. It’s essential to keep your skin hydrated and healthy during the cooler months. One of my go-to products for this is Kopari Moisture Whipped Ceramide Cream, as its hydrating formula is made to strengthen your skin’s barrier, locking in hydration for 72 hours and leaving your skin smoother than ever. Another great product is Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream. This face cream is rich and packed with hydrating antioxidants that give your skin that healthy glow even in the fall!

Tip 2: Incorporate a Dewy Foundation

In the summer, using a matte foundation helps control shine from heat and humidity, but in the fall, you might want to try a glow boost to attain a more luminous complexion. Using a dewy or radiant foundation during the fall can be a nice choice when the weather cools down and the air becomes drier. Switching your foundation formulas completely or using a glow booster can be a key component to refreshing your summer makeup for your fall makeup routine. To obtain that natural, dewy look, try mixing Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Perfect Glow or Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter into your foundation or using them underneath. Both will illuminate your skin naturally. If you want an all-in-one skin tint, try ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 for light, hydrating coverage with a dewy finish.

Tip 3: Focus on Blush

Bronzer may have been a go-to product for the perfect summer glow. But prioritizing blush over bronzer in your fall makeup routine will complement the crisp and cozy fall months beautifully. Blush allows you to match the season’s tones and offers a softer way to easily add dimension and flush to your cheeks. Without a doubt, Makeup by Mario Soft Plumping Blush is a perfect product for this. This weightless cream blush will plump your cheeks with a sheer layer of color and double as another layer of hydration for your skin since it contains hyaluronic acid. Plus, this line has beautiful shades to pick from and is so easy to use! With fall makeup in mind, the shades rose crush and berry punch would pair with the season beautifully.

Tip 4: Fall Eye Shadow Tones

Transitioning from bright summer colors to earthy fall tones is a great way to spruce up your fall makeup routine. Since nature’s color palette shifts toward deep greens, oranges, browns, purples, and grays, using earthy-toned eyeshadows can mirror the ambiance of fall and create a makeup look that’s in tune with the season. There are so many options for a fall makeup routine eyeshadow look, but this Dior Backstage Eye Palette is the one I seem to reach for quite a bit once fall rolls around. There are several shades to choose from, it’s easy to work with and even includes a primer.

Tip 5: Deeper Lip Tones

Deeper lip tones are commonly associated with fall. The rich hues complement the changing colors of the environment and add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your overall look. If you’re more into neutrals and are typically averse to deeper shades like I am, using a lip oil, gloss, or stain is the way to go. They’re not as dramatic as lipsticks but still look beautiful and seasonally appropriate. Applying these products over a lip liner enriches the color and gives them lasting power. There are so many beautiful shades to choose from and such versatility in tones that you can easily find something you’ll love that’s ideal for all occasions and skin tones. Two lip products I recommend here would be Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede Sculpting Lip Pencil and Merit Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil. Both of these formulas are beautiful, even on dry lips, which is something to consider during the cooler months for your fall makeup routine.

Transitioning your makeup look into a fall makeup routine is an opportunity to revamp your routine, experiment with new trends, and fully immerse yourself in the spirit of fall. It’s about embracing the changes of the season, celebrating its colors, and enjoying the cozy and cool environment. I hope these five small tips will help you effortlessly feel and look your best! ~xoxo
