With summer here, it’s time for a makeup refresh. I prefer to use makeup that has a lighter feel when the weather gets hot. Here are some summer beauty essentials that work nicely for just that. What are your light makeup staples when you want to look your best but not have a heavy feel? Leave your suggestions in the comments below.
Color Corrector
Are you a fan of having a natural and flawless look? A thin layer of Magic Vanish Color Corrector from Charlotte Tilbury does wonders with covering discoloration around your eyes while layering beautifully under concealer. It also feels very lightweight under makeup, which is perfect for any summer beauty look. I’m very particular with my under-eye products and haven’t talked about this one in a while. But I still use and love it. Another forever favorite is my beloved Bobbi Brown stick corrector, which is creamier than Magic Vanish. Eyeshadow Stick
Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks are long-time holy grail products for me because you can simply swipe them on your lids, smudge, and go! They’re quick to apply, blendable, smudge easily, nicely pigmented, and set down to last all day. These give me the flexibility to use them as shadow and/or liner if I’m in a hurry or want simple & easy makeup. Plus they have tons of shimmer and matte shades, allowing you to create a multitude of summer beauty looks, from simple to elaborate.
Setting Spray
I have tried many settings sprays and have several favorites I want to mention here for a few reasons. All of them are alcohol-free. First, Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray has been tried-and-true for me since it launched. It takes away that powdery look and sets your makeup so it’s bulletproof all day. I also have a mini-bottle for when I travel! Caliray Surfproof Hydrating Setting Spray with Niacinamide is a newer favorites I find so refreshing and lovely for all skin types. It gives a dewy finish without making my combo skin look greasy, hydrates, and sets my makeup flawlessly. For you combo/oily-skinned folks, Milk Makeup Pore Eclipse Mattifying + Blurring Setting Spray is a must-have. It does exactly what the name says – mattify and blur while setting your makeup all day long. It also doesn’t leave my face feeling dry, sticky, or tight.
Bronzing Drops
Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Drops have been a staple for me for a long time because they’re the perfect way to quickly and easily achieve a bronzed summer glow. These drops can deepen your foundations to the perfect summer shade (without changing their texture), saving you from spending money on foundations you may only wear for a couple of months. These can be mixed into anything you can think of – foundation, serum, moisturizer, body lotion, and more!
Tinted Lip Balm
Although I’ve delved into a lot of creamy hydrating balm/lipstick hybrid products, I don’t know if I’ll ever be over Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm. Not only do these feel amazing, but they plump those pesky lip lines while being super moisturizing. Plus, I love the shiny lip color that stays on my lips for a decent amount of time for a balm/gloss formula.
Blush & Glow Cheek Color
One of the most effortless and flattering makeup products I own and reach for regularly is Tarte Maneater Blush & Glow. It gives the perfect dewy look (with no sparkle) that makes your skin look and feel hydrated and fresh. It’s also super easy to build and blend out. I’ve gifted these to people because I use them so much myself. I adore these and love that they’ve released more shades. This is one viral product that’s been absolutely worth the hype!
Tinted Mineral Sunscreen
EltaMD Elements Tinted Mineral Sunscreen is a fabulous facial sunscreen to grab if you have sensitive skin or hate the white cast that most mineral formulas give. This lightweight tinted sunscreen is perfect for when you need maximum sun protection but also want to even out your skin tone just a bit! I love how moisturizing it feels without being too heavy or greasy for oily skin types. The entire Elta MD line is actually really great to check out. They’re known for their fantastic sunscreen products.
