Everyone should have at least one great nude lipstick in their collection! Nude and neutral lip shades are great for everyday use and can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. Plus, they’re great to keep in your bag to grab at any time!
One common mistake with neutral and nude lip colors is choosing a shade that doesn’t compliment your skin tone. With so many brands creating lip shades that suit every skin tone, it makes it easier than ever to find that perfect shade – and I’m here to help! I promise you – there’s a nude out there for you.
Nude Lipstick Tips
When choosing the perfect nude lipstick, here are a few things to keep in mind. First, the shade shouldn’t exactly match your skin tone. The perfect color should be a shade or two darker, or at least the same color-depth of your lips. Also, the perfect shade doesn’t have to be your standardized “nude.” If you enjoy warm tones, go warm. If you prefer pink tones, spring for a pinky nude.
A little tip: When you do find the perfect shade, apply a neutral lip-toned liner underneath to define your lips and help the shade wear longer throughout the day.
As a nude lipstick lover, here are a few of my current personal favorite nude lipsticks!
10 Best Nude Lipsticks
I’ve raved many times about how much I love Charlotte Tilbury’s lip colors. The KISSING Lipstick in Bitch Perfect is my perfect peachy nude. It’s incredibly flattering on my light/medium neutral warm-toned skin. It just might be one of my favorite nudes of all time. It looks perfect with any makeup look, is creamy, comfortable, and wears well for a long time.
The Urban Decay Vice Hydrating Lipstick in Naked is another one of my favorites for a few reasons. The shade is a neutral pink nude that’s long-lasting and comfortable. It’s also moisturizing since it’s made with gentle ingredients like aloe vera and avocado oil. These come in three finishes: satin, matte, and high shine and are vegan and cruelty-free.
L’Oreal Age Perfect Luminous Hydrating Lipstick in Brilliant Brown is another ultra-hydrating nude that’s great for brown and deep skin tones! This one is sure to leave your lips ultra-hydrated, as it promises 9-hour coverage. It’s a 2-in-1 lip color and treatment combo that contains nourishing ingredients like jojoba oil and Vitamin E.
Chanel Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Adrienne is a hydrating, creamy, lush pinky-nude beige. This color is rumored to be a Jennifer Aniston favorite! It provides full coverage with a creamy, yet lightweight, consistency. This is a fantastic nude to add to your collection if you love comfort, shine, and longevity!
I said earlier in this post that I adore loads of Charlotte Tilbury lip colors! The second one I’m featuring today is the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk. This is truly one of the most iconic neutral lipstick shades of all time and is on so many favorites lists for good reason! It’s a comfortable matte that provides a flattering pink-toned neutral color that’s not overly pink. Plus, the Pillow Talk lip line now offers different depths so you can find a Pillow Talk lip shade to suit your skin tone. I didn’t try this for the longest time, thinking it would be too dry and too pink. I’m so glad I finally did because it’s super flattering, comfortable, and wears well!
L’Oreal Colour Riche Shine Glossy Ultra Rich Lipstick in Glossy Fawn is one of my favorite drugstore lip formulas and shades. These lipsticks are made of 60% oils, so they’re hydrating while providing a long-lasting, high-gloss shine. I love the super creamy feel of this lipstick along with the beige-nude tone.
BareMinerals Mineralist Hydra-Smoothing Lipstick in Memory is a perfect flattering, medium-toned nude-rose shade. I love the pigmented, rich, creamy, and lightweight formula. This lipstick is full of nourishing, hydrating ingredients that can reduce the look of lip lines, texture, or dryness- all in just 1 week! There are loads of benefits to this vegan, cruelty-free, clean nude lipstick!
I’ve seen so many people fall in love with Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lipstick. I think this line is completely underrated. Seriously – this stuff is so nourishing, super comfortable, and very long-wearing. The neutral pink-brown hue of Juicy Date seems to brighten my complexion and is perfect for everyday. This hybrid formula has the opacity of a lipstick, the comfort of a balm, and the plumping sheen of a gloss. For a product under $30, this delivers so much!
I have another underrated lipstick formula and shade to share – COVERGIRL Exhibitionist Lipstick Cream in Champagne. This lipstick is infused with shea butter for hydration and comfort. It’s very creamy and flattering, plus the champagne-beige color pairs well with various lip pencil shades or can be worn beautifully on its own.
The last one I want to mention is Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. Since it’s been a cult classic for over 40 years and has recently made a resurgence, I wanted to include it. Even though it’s not a personal favorite of mine, I certainly see why others love it. This sheer, moisturizing, glossy lipstick suits almost skin tone and slightly deepens your lips to a natural flattering neutral berry shade that’s wearable for any occasion.
