Here are 5 amazing drugstore beauty products that I’ve been using regularly and loving!
The under-eye struggle becomes harder and harder the older we get, especially if you have dryness, texture, or fine lines. I found a fantastic drugstore concealer that a lot of you have been asking me to try.
I didn’t realize the NYX Bare with Me Concealer Serum came in a pump bottle until I bought it to try. I love this and wish more brands would put their concealers in pumps. It’s not only sanitary, it’s also quick and easy to dispense, and less messy. Plus you can dispense a tiny amount at a time and mix two shades incredibly easily.
I have two shades Light and Beige. If I’m concealing my face, beige works really nicely. If I’m wanting to brighten my under-eye area, I use light. But most of the time, for natural day-to-day looks, I just brighten my under-eyes half a shade or so. So I mix them half and half.
This has a very thin consistency to it, so it gives you plenty of time to work with it and blend it out before it sets down. I would almost say that those of you who aren’t prone to creasing may not even have to set it!
This is a medium coverage serum concealer that gives 24 hours of hydration and feels very lightweight and comfortable all day long. One of the reasons I didn’t try it for a while was because of the medium coverage. I typically go for fuller coverage concealers because I have discoloration underneath my eyes. I also have tear troughs, so I need a little bit of help with shadows. With this concealer, I do typically wear a corrector underneath it to help my discoloration. If you don’t have dark circles, you may be able to skip the corrector.
Bare with Me meshes with my skin beautifully. It doesn’t matter if I wear a corrector underneath or set it with powder – the finish is beautiful and flattering and never emphasizes anything it shouldn’t. NYX Bare With Me Concealer Serum is affordable and available from the drugstore or online. If you want a skin-like, natural-looking concealer that looks beautiful and flattering under your eyes, if you have dryness or texture, or if you’re a little bit more mature, NYX Bare with Me is a fantastic drugstore serum concealer.
If you’ve been following my Youtube channel, you know I love high-end skincare, specifically high-end moisturizers. I’m not saying I’ll never use another high-end moisturizer or rotate it into my skincare routine, but lately Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 has been the moisturizer I’ve been using. I even decanted it and brought it with me on my last two trips!
Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 isn’t just a basic moisturizer. The peptides in this product help with your skin’s own natural renewal process. The texture is lovely and it’s fragrance-free. It sinks in so nicely so that my skin feels nice and moisturized, but never greasy or tacky. Keep in mind, I have combination skin that gets oily in the T-zone, but I can also get some dryness around the perimeter of my face. This works really well for my skin type. I think it would work well for normal and moderately dry skin as well.
Included in the ingredient list is niacinamide (Vitamin B-3) which helps with skin cell turnover and keeping your pores nice and clear. It also has provitamin B5 and other nice ingredients. I truly love the way my skin looks when I use this regularly and have been using it in my nighttime skincare routine.
There’s an entire Collagen Peptide 24 line, including a Collagen Peptide 24 Max version of this that I’m interested in trying. I’m wondering if it would make my skin look even more even-toned and healthy than this does already. There’s also an eye cream and a cleanser (currently using the cleanser as well). I truly believe this could be a high-end product and you wouldn’t know the difference – I love it that much!
I am throughly impressed with the quality of the Coral Me Maybe Eyeshadow Palette from Essence and it’s less than $4! You can actually purchase this palette in variety of color options. I have blue eyes and have been enjoying the color story of Coral Me Maybe for the spring and summer. But there are loads to choose from!
Both the mattes and shimmers apply and blend out so beautifully, making it effortless to use. The shimmers are a little bit soft, very flattering, and don’t leave a bunch of fallout on your cheek after application.
Because each palette has a single color theme, it’s very easy to create a monochromatic look. And because they’re $3.99, you can mix and match palettes too! I don’t think you can go wrong with these. I wasn’t expecting as much as I got from the quality. I’ve been impressed, obsessed, and reaching for this one constantly, and I will be reaching others.
I have shared this product before, but it needs to be shared again because I’ve received some questions about the Neutrogena Retinol Pro Plus Power Serum. I have completely switched over my former retinol product to this. This winter, when it was colder outside, I was having a problem using my Rx retinol as much as I wanted because it was making my skin quite sensitive. Consequently, I didn’t feel like I was truly getting the benefits that I could get from it. I switched over to Neutrogena Retinol Pro+ to try it out. I realized I was really liking it. So this has been my retinol ever since!
I’m able to use this every single night on my sensitive skin with no issues, and I feel like it is doing such great things for my skin. It doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, and it’s available to everyone. Many over-the-counter formulations can either be overly harsh or so gentle that they’re often ineffective. This is the middle ground drugstore OTC retinol I’ve been looking for.
After I wash my face, I wait until my face is dry, then apply this serum, let it sink in for a couple of minutes, and then apply my moisturizer. Because it has 0.5% pure retinol in a lightweight serum, it sinks right into the skin. The retinol is combined with nourishing emollients, so I never feel like my skin is being stripped. Yet I feel like it’s helped with my skin tone, texture, pores, and overall smoothness.
I think Neutrogena Retinol Pro+ Power Serum is a great option that’s more affordable than a many other effective options. So, if you also have sensitive skin, dark spots, fine lines, wrinkles, or texture that you’re wanting to target, or if other retinol forms are too harsh for your skin, this might be a great option for you as it has been for me!
I’ve tried a few Wet n Wild brushes that I’ve had good luck ,with but for some reason I never tried the Angled Eyeliner Brush. I’m pretty picky about my angled eyeliner brushes or any eyeliner brush in general, so I was doubtful I would like it. It’s a little bit fatter than most angled eyeliner brushes that I like to use, but I tried it anyway with an open mind. To my surprise, I really enjoy this brush and it’s only $2!
I know some people use this for brows, but prefer thinner hair-like browstrokes. So personally don’t like to use this for my brows. However, what I love about this brush is that I can wiggle this in right at the base of my lashes, and it does double duty – It tight lines at the base of my lashes (so they look thicker) and gives me easy eyeliner at the same time. Thinner brushes can take a little bit longer to do both of these. It also gives a nice smokey effect to the little eyeliner flick I like to do. I typically smoke out my eyeliner most days now because the fold/crease of my eye, crosses below the outer corner of my eyes. Smoking out my eyeliner means I don’t have to be as precise with my eyeliner, but it always looks good. With this brush, I don’t have to switch between a thin liner brush to a pencil brush to smoke the line.
You could have ten of these on hand and do different things or use them for different shades. Because it’s so inexpensive, you can grab one and see for yourself if you like it and how you want to use it. This has been a fantastic find and one of my least expensive!
