Estee Lauder Double Wear or Lancome Teint Idole | Which Foundation is Right For You?

Estee Lauder Doublewear and Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear

Today I’m comparing two top-rated foundations: Estee Lauder Double Wear and Lancome Teint Idole.

While both of these foundations have their strengths and weaknesses, I’ll highlight why you might want to choose one over the other. Let’s see how each stands up against the other in various areas. You can also see more details in the full video below!

Estee Lauder Double Wear vs Lancome Teint Idole: A Comparison

Pricing

Both foundations retail for $43 for 1 oz.  But if you want a pump on your Double Wear bottle, you’ll need to fork over an additional $10 for the Estee Lauder pump – or grab one from another brand or an old bottle of foundation.

Shades

Lancome offers 50 shades of Teint Idole to choose from. Estee Lauder offers more choices, with 56 shades of Double Wear listed on its website. You can see my shades in these and other foundations HERE on the blog.

Claims and Ingredients

Both foundations have nearly identical claims. Both claim to have 24-hour wear and provide buildable medium-to-full coverage with a natural matte finish. Both also claim to be lightweight and to stay color-true for 24 hours even in hot, humid weather. Both are oil-free and claim to be suitable for sensitive, acne-prone skin. Neither contains additional fragrance.

Double Wear contains no alcohol. While the majority of Teint Idole shades are alcohol-free, shades 500-560 do contain alcohol.

Consistency

Lancome Teint Idole has a medium to medium-thick consistency, yet it blends out nicely. On the other hand, Estee Lauder Double Wear is relatively thin. (Shown in the video below the post)

Application

Because Double Wear sets very quickly, it can be tricky to apply. But once you get the application down, it’s fast and the finish can look (and feel) extremely natural and beautiful. You can see my video on how to apply Estee Lauder Double Wear without looking cakey HERE. Because Lancome doesn’t set as quickly, it’s easier to blend out than Double Wear. (See the application, finish, & coverage of both in the video below the post.)

Finish and Coverage

While both foundations provide medium-to-full coverage, Double Wear requires less building and thus, gives higher coverage with less product. To get the same coverage level from Lancome, you’ll need to apply more product. Both can give a natural demi-matte finish, depending on how they’re applied.

Wear

Estee Lauder Double Wear is extremely long-wearing. My makeup will last and look beautiful all-day AND all night. Lancome Teint Idole is also long-wearing, but on a lesser scale. I can get a long work day OR a long evening out of it, but not both, the way I can with Double Wear.

Final Thoughts

Teint Idole is easy and quick to apply, suitable for all skin types, and is an excellent natural-looking foundation to have for a long work or errand-running day.

Double Wear’s application is rewarded with a worry-free, natural matte finish that rarely needs any touch ups. When I need a foundation for an event or one that will take you from morning into the night, this is my pick.

I keep both on hand because I use them for different occasions. Both of these long-wearing foundations are excellent choices, depending on what your needs and preferences are. I hope you found this foundation comparison helpful! To see them in action, check out the video below.

Hey! Your video has been super helpful! I also watched the one on how to apply Estée Lauder Double Wear. My question now is… I have rosacea and it drives me crazy, do you think ELDW would be good full coverage for that?
