As we get older, it becomes harder to find a good setting power. There are many reasons why it’s trickier to set our makeup now than when we were in our 20s and early 30s. Powder can emphasize texture or dryness or just look too “powdery”. Yet many of us still need to set our makeup so it will last the full day or so we don’t look shiny during the day.
Below are 10 drugstore and high-end setting powders for all skin types. To see more information and specifics, see the video below the post.
10 Favorite Setting Powders for Mature Skin
1. Long Time No Shine Loose Setting Powder, Lancôme
As the name promises, this highly reliable airy, lightweight powder can be used on your face to mattify and remove shine. It minimizes your pores, gives an airbrushed finish, and also works well on dry, textured under-eye areas…a rarity for a mattifying setting powder. This has been a favorite of mine for a long time!

2. Clean Fresh Pressed Powder, CoverGirl
This powder is vegan, cruelty-free, and talc-free. In place of talc, it has tapioca and aloe vera that absorb oil and leave a fresh and natural finish on your face. It’s lovely for all skin types and is one of my favorite recent drugstore discoveries.
3. Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder, Charlotte Tilbury
This powder has holy grail status by many for good reason. It airbrushes your pores beautifully, works wonders for your under-eye area, and noticeably reduces shine and imperfections. It does all of these things while not looking like powder. It truly does what the name says – it airbrushes the skin and gives it a flawless finish and is perfect for all skin types.
4. Light Illusion Powder, FLOWER Beauty
This is a highly underrated product that deserves more time in the spotlight. Light Illusion has next-generation blurring pigments that airbrush the skin. In my opinion, it’s a fantastic affordable dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury powder and is wonderful for all skin types.
5. Poudre De Beauté Mat Naturel Beauty Setting Powder, Gucci
This is one of my favorite discoveries of 2021. It became a quick favorite because it’s magically undetectable on the skin as it sets your makeup perfectly. I didn’t think a pressed, all-skin-types powder could get better than Charlotte Tilbury…until this came along. It doesn’t look like you’re wearing powder while it blurs, smooths, minimizes pores, and removes shine. Seriously, what else can you ask for? Perfect for all skin types.
6. Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder, Maybelline
This is a great drugstore powder for keeping your face shine-free. However, it can emphasize dryness and texture under your eyes. For those of you looking for a portable, drugstore option for breakthrough shine though, look no further! This is great for combo/oily skin.
7. Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder, Huda Beauty
I know this powder was made to “bake” with, but I adore this powder for setting my makeup. With mature skin, I avoid baking my face like the plague. This looks great under my eyes and on my face to set, blur pores, and keep shine away.
8. Perfect Light Loose Powder, No7
No7 has several great powder options. Honestly, any of them are fantastic. Not only do their powders look beautiful on all skin types, but they’re also reliable. They have options for all skin types and they wear well throughout the day. I usually set with the loose when I’m at home since it’s loose format but the two pressed versions are great for travel or home.
9. Velvet Finishing Powder, Nikia Joy
This has been one of my staple setting powders for a long time. It’s amazing on both my dry under eyes and my face. Plus, it blurs pores and imperfections like no other and helps my makeup wear amazingly well. It’s simply gorgeous and highly underrated! It’s great for all skin types.

10. Photofocus Loose Setting Powder, Wet n Wild
Photofocus is a finely milled silky powder that blurs the skin beautifully. It takes care of your shiny T-zone and keeps your skin looking soft and natural. Plus it’s extremely affordable and is great for all skin types.

Mary Kay silky setting powder and the translucent loose powder are my favs! Let me know what you think!
Nikki Joy now makes a pressed powder version – I’ve only just ordered it so I can’t comment on how it performs. However, the couple of reviews I have seen seem to think it’s even better than the loose version.
I really like the Cover Girl Clean Fresh powder for quick touchups in the afternoon. The powder itself feels a bit chunky on the skin but blends very well and absorbs oil like a champ. It looks good and keeps me looking smooth all day. You can tell it is not the highest-end brand because other brands are much softer if you touch the powder itself, but CG performs well. A bargain for sure!
