Thrive Causemetics Review | So Many Products!!

thrive causemetics review

Thrive Causemetics is all about a good cause.

I love beauty brands that give back in some way. Thrive’s slogan is beauty with a purpose…meaning for every product purchased, a product is donated to a woman in need who is suffering from cancer homelessness or domestic violence. As soon as I first heard about Thrive Causemetics, I was immediately drawn to the brand. So I’m really excited about telling you about these products. But as with any brand, not every product can be fantastic.

I was sent some products to try but then saw more on the website that looked interesting to me. So I bought more products on my own. I’ve tried a multitude of products that I want to talk to you about and have my get ready with me video linked at the end as well. In it, I use Thrive, KKW and some other “new to me” products to get a full-face look.

Where to Buy Thrive Causemetics?

Wondering where to buy Thrive Causemetics? As of now, Thrive is only available for purchase through their website. Pricing is comparable to other department store makeup brands. At first I thought pricing was a bit steep for a small brand. But in my mind, if a product I purchase is giving back to a woman in need, I’m all for paying a bit more to do so. I feel good about purchasing these products. I’ve had very close women in my life pass away from and suffer through cancer. So if I can support that mission in any way possible, that’s what I want to do.

If you decide to shop Thrive, you can save $10 on your first purchase of $50+ and get free shipping by using this link.
When you order from Thrive they give you these adorable reusable makeup bags. They’re very durable as well. Super super cute!
I also love that all their product and shade names are named after women. It’s pretty cool with their cause! And can I just point out how gorgeous the aqua packaging is? It’s also very durable, sturdy and high-end feeling.

Product Reviews

Infinity Waterproof Eyebrow Liner

I’ll start off with their brow pencil . The shade I have is Audrey which is the deepest shade. This surprises me a bit because I rarely wear the deepest shade in any brow product. It has a really fine tip that I really like.
Thrive Causemetics Brow Pencil in Audrey
This brow pencil isn’t waxy and applies easily. However, I like to apply it before I apply my setting powder because I feel like it glides on a little bit easier and appears deeper this way. When I apply it over powder I can’t really get the pigment I need. It appears more like a shadow which isn’t cool when you’ve over 40 and have some sparse brows going on or need to even out some bare spots on your brows. I’d say applying over powder is fine when you’re filling in your brows but when you really need to try and mimic brow hairs, it needs to be applied to fresh skin or directly over foundation. I have a whole video on how I do my brows with a brow pen. That’s what I use the most mostly lately because I find it gives the most natural look when you’re truly trying to mimic actual brow hairs.

Perfect Eye Palette Warm Neutrals

I’m loving the Thrive Causemetics eyeshadow palette in warm neutrals. The packaging is really sturdy and super cute. All the shades are clearly labeled in color on the back. I’m not sure if I’ve seen another palette label like that. Have you? I love how clear they make it to use!

There is some kick up with the shadow, but I don’t find that it’s an issue blending out as long as you tap off your brush first. I do like applying the shimmers to the eye with a wet brush or a finger.

The mattes apply and blend easily and have great pigmentation. I really like the quality of this palette!

Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner

Thrive initially sent me the Infinity eyeliner in the shade Lauren. Since I don’t wear black eyeliner very often, I decided to order Hoda which is the gray shade.

This eyeliner rivals Pixie and Urban Decay 24/7 in terms of pigmentation and lasting power. I dare say it lasts longer on me than Urban Decay 24/7 liners! I’m not usually a fan of mechanical pencils because they can’t be sharpened. I love the convenience of them but hate that I can never have a truly sharp tip. But since Thrive’s has a built-in sharpener that actually works, I’m totally on board with it!

Not only does it last a long time, it glides on really really smoothly and allows you to smudge it out (if you dig that look) before it fully sets too.

I feel like I don’t get impressed with eyeliner that much. But this one has done it for me!

Sun Chaser Blur + Sculpt Bronzer

I have the Sun Chaser blur bronzing powder in the shade Rhea which is a really great neutral matte bronzer. I’m LOVING the sleek magnetic closure.

Thrive Causemetics Bronzer

This bronzer is extremely pigmented in that a lot of product picks up on your brush (you can see this in the video). It’s definitely something to note. You want to be sure to tap the excess off before applying your brush to your face or you could end up with excess product where you initially place your brush down. That said, I feel like this shade just gives such a beautiful warmth on the skin without being orangey at all. There are two bronzer shades to choose from. When shopping, that seems limited. But after trying this bronzer, it seems like that might be enough since they’re pretty universal. Rhea gives you that sun-kissed look that everyone is going for. I feel like it’s the color that I would naturally tan in the middle of the summer.

Cosmo Power Strobing Blush

The multi-dimensional strobing blush that I have is in the shade Rosie.

Thrive Causemetics Blush

It’s so so pretty! I love a blush that gives me a beautiful sheen without looking sparkly and very rarely wear highlighter when I’m wearing this type of blush. I just love that this product can function as both blush & highlighter in one. It’s great for time-crunched days! It gives a healthy glow that’s natural enough that I can run it down my nose and across my forehead/chin to tie the look together as well.  You guys have been saying that I’ve been looking extra healthy and glowy lately so this might be the trick!

Lip Filler Long Wearing + Plumping Lip Liner

The lip liner I have is in the shade Jessie. It’s supposed to line and plump your lips. It’s creamy, long wearing, waterproof and is supposed to hydrate your lips.

Thrive Causemetics lip liner

Jessie is so incredibly light so it’s hard for me to gauge how I truly feel because it kind of cancels out my own lip color. I don’t really necessarily think this is more hydrating or lasts on my lips longer than another lipliner. But I do like that it is a mechanical liner with a built in sharpener. I’m just not quite sure it’s drastically different from other lip liners that I use.

Headliner Lipstick

I have two lipstick shades…Stephanie and Ilene. They sent me Stephanie, which I thought was really sweet and thoughtful since it’s my namesake.

Two Swatches On Right: L: Stephanie R: Ilene
You can see, though, how light Stephanie is. I ordered Ilene and absolutely love it! It’s a great neutral shade. And can we just give them props for using magnetic packaging?? LOVE IT!! This is supposed to be a line filling lipstick that hydrates, smooths and plumps your lips. It also has a built-in primer for long-lasting wear. They feel good on the lips and are a bit matte yet don’t dry out my lips. I like that a lot. I don’t feel like they last a super long time though. Overall, I like this lipstick formula.

Glossy Lip Hydrating Serum

Another product that I really love from Thrive Causemetics is this hydrating serum. I have the shades Pamela and Ruth. They sent me Pamela which is actually pretty deep. I ordered Ruth because I just wanted something that would pair well with the Ilene
lipstick. This is supposed to do everything in one…last like a liquid lipstick and not feather, be non-sticky like a gloss and give a stain that lasts all day. Now I don’t think they come close to lasting all day like a liquid lipstick does. But they do leave a nice stain behind. Pamela leaves more of a stain than Ruth simply because it’s a much deeper shade. I love the way these look and feel on my lips.

I’ve really been enjoying wearing Ilene and Ruth together. It’s a nice neutral/nude combo that I feel gives my lips a nice plump natural look I can really wear anywhere. It’s sort of a “no brainer” look that I can dress up or down and that feels good on the lips too. Score!

Lip Mate High-Shine Reviving Topper

Yet another lip product that I ordered is this topper in Glinda which is a beautiful shimmering rose gold. Lip Mate has time-released hyaluronic microspheres that lock in moisture for 24 hours while enhancing your natural lip color. You can wear this as a topper over other lip products or you can put it on over bare lips. It does have some glimmer particles that I don’t really notice and it feels good. Overall, I really enjoy this product.

Matte Legacy

They sent their liquid lipstick in the shade Rowan which is a great neutral pink. This is supposed to be a weightless full coverage matte liquid lipstick that won’t dry out your lips. As someone who just doesn’t like traditional liquid lipsticks, I do find this to be drying simply because it sort of feels like I have nothing on my lips. This, to me, does feel a bit dry. Now if you’re someone who likes liquid lipsticks, I think you’ll like this. It’s not nearly as drying as most liquid lip products. My lips don’t appear puckered and wrinkly. It’s just a regular nice liquid lipstick if you’re into that kind of thing.

Liquid Lash Extensions

People seem to love the Thrive Causemetics mascara so I was really excited to try it out. If you have a different lash type, this mascara review might not pertain to you. I have pretty long lashes that don’t hold a curl and that need more volume/fullness. (I do have a lash video showing how I create volume and hold a curl if you have similar lashes.) My goal is to build volume, separate easily (which is hard to do with thin lashes), and hold a curl. Because I always use a waterproof mascara as my first layer I don’t require a mascara to hold the curl.  But I do test things to see if they hold a curl. However, if they don’t, it’s no big deal.

The tube is stunning. It’s one of the heaviest metal tubes of mascara I’ve ever held in my hands. The placement of the plastic bristles looks like it’s going to separate the lashes nicely.

L: Wander Beauty R: Thrive
I have on both Wander Beauty Unlashed and Thrive in this photo. I spent about twice as much time on the Thrive side trying to comb and declump my lashes as I did the Wander Beauty side. I’ve been a little frustrated with this mascara. I’m thinking the people who love Thrive mascara just don’t have sparse lashes like I have. In order for my lashes to not stick to each other and end up looking like I have five lashes total, I can only apply one to two swipes of the Thrive mascara which is kind of pointless. So I’d rather just use something else. The formula is very wet so it clumps on me badly and straightens my curl right back out (when tested on bare lashes). However, it does remove very easily.

Buildable Blur CC Cream

I adore the Thrive Buildable Blur CC cream!  I have the shade Light-Medium. (You can find my all foundation matches here.) This CC Cream is what I wanted the It Cosmetics Matte CC Cream to be.

thrive cc cream

It looks beautiful on my skin, wears well all day and wears beautifully with pretty much every primer and powder I’ve tried it with. The Thrive CC Cream builds easily and gives nice coverage without looking cakey or unnatural. It also doesn’t settle into pores or fine lines during the day or make me greasy as the day goes on. I really have nothing bad to say about the Thrive Causemetics CC Cream! The blur effect technology and broad spectrum SPF 35 are wonderful. (Note: don’t ever use/rely on your foundation for your only daily SPF…you have to apply too much to get the proper SPF needed. I say that every time we talk about foundation or CC cream. Broken record, I know!) Thrive Causemetics CC Cream seems to be good for my oily combination over-40 skin type!

For Further Review

I just ordered a few more Thrive Causemetics products to try like the foundation sponge and new powder, etc. I plan to add them to this post as I try them. So if you’re not subscribed to my blog newsletter, you may want to subscribe to get updates!

I absolutely love the mascara, but I have had a bad tube of it that didn’t coat my lashes very well and flaked off easily. But the good tubes I’ve had make it hard to switch back to anything else. It makes my lashes so long, holds my curl, and doesn’t clump, smudge, or flake. And it comes off so amazingly easily. I think it’s my favorite tube mascara I’ve tried. I haven’t noticed any lash loss.

The only product I’ve tried so far that I haven’t really cared for is the liquid lipstick. I struggled to get it on, and it ended up so thick that it caked off. I do want to give it another try, though.

I hate that mascara! when I complained on the website they “instructed ” me how I probably was not applying it right..I’ve only worn mascara 45 years and tried them all. They said work on 1 eye at a time, there’s some pertinent info for all you who do 2 eyes at once! you can only use 1 coat. And I compare it to childrens non-toxic paint , its wet, it dries and after a few hours…it really dries, so you look like you slept in it, and its flaking off. certainly not worth $32.

I used the mascara for weeks with great results until my eyelashes started falling out. You’ll see when you wash your face, it coats the entire lash and when you wash it comes off in black plastic strands, taking your natural lash too. They begin to fall out over time. I noticed my lashes stuck all over my lash curler as well, something that had never happened in my life. (I have no pre-existing allergies/sensitivities)

I just received mine. I’ll let you know if I experience any eyelash loss. Did they reimburse you?

I was lazy and didn’t try. I’m sure they would have though. Keep me updated!
